The main thing you should allow is *.dl.delivery.mp., but feel free to add in others that are listed here if you are comfortable with that. We have endpoints you can allow in LuLu that should resolve this, linked below. The team believes that this is what is blocking the updates, but it's only a suspicion. I am back! I may have a solution for you. :3 However, if you have any other questions or concerns, I'd like to address them before I close this one out on my side. Once the support article is published (if I can get this pushed out) I will give you a shoutout in one of my Dev update posts. I think at this point you are all set? I question that because I don't want to leave you hanging. (I used to do networking support for Xbox, and they have several articles about similar situations thanks to NAT and multiplayer, I am using that as an example for how it is done across the company.) I personally understand that there are not a ton of users out there on macOS who use firewalls, but this situation is so unique and niche that I feel there is a need here to get a support article up. I am currently working with the team to get a support article up about users who may run into this. The fact that LuLu needed to add permissions for the Update Assistant in addition to MAU seems odd to us, but your situation has led to good things! We have been working on removing the need for MAU on macOS, but it seems that you don't yet have that. So, the Update Assistant is part of the AutoUpdate tool (honestly, this was something I learned thanks to your post, too!). That is my bad, I appreciate your understanding. SUPER sorry about the delay here, Neuro! Things have been crazy as I have been training up my new CM, Darlene, and I actually had an update for you last week that I failed to provide you with. If it doesn't work at that time, I'll see if I can send you the update logs as you described above. I'm going to leave LuLu on, and see if I get the next Edge update.they seem to come in about once a week or so. I wonder if some update from the updater tool, or maybe Edge, is suddenly incompatible with LuLu? I always had an issue with Office updates - this is the first time they have updated since I installed them in January. I also checked in the block rules, and all of my Microsoft Office apps (Word, Excel, Outlook), as well as Edge and the Autoupdater tool, have always been set to allow through any address and any port. LuLu has been running since day one on this machine, and up until about a month ago, I never had issues with Edge updates. I tried disabling it, and everything updated fine - HOWEVER. I think I just found at least one roadblock - I run LuLu (firewall to stop unknown outbound connections.) I appreciate you taking the time to get this to us, and I look forward to chatting with you more. :)įrom here, I can share with the team what you are hitting and we will be able to dig further. After attaching, click send and let me know when you have done that! If you include your email address, this gives the team the opportunity to reach out to you directly, but that is optional. Please submit the feedback even if it doesn't allow you to add this so that we can have the diagnostics still, and I will get you the incredibly convoluted (but definitely for your privacy protection) steps needed to get your log to me. If you run into issues attaching this, we will need to do a shuffle to get this to me in a privacy compliant way.Click on that (or, if you do not see it, click on the link for "diagnostic data" and that should open the attachments window for you) and then attach the updater.log file located here: ~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/EdgeUpdater/updater.log There should be an option on this tool to add Attachments. This will make it super easy for me to find your feedback item. In the description, detail what you are seeing and drop the URL to this Reddit thread in there.Check the option to allow diagnostics to be sent to us.menu > Help and feedback > Send feedback to open the in-app feedback tool. The latter may take some shuffling, but let's see if we can get it sent via our feedback tool first. Next, I'd love to get not only diagnostics to the team but also want to grab your updater log to ensure you are updating as expected despite seeing this error. We'd love to dig in!įirst, when you head to edge://settings/help, do you see any error codes there? That'll give us our first hint on what may be happening here. We have consistently made improvements to this experience, but we sometimes see users hit issues similar to this. Hey, friend! We have actually been using the Microsoft AutoUpdater tool on macOS since we originally launched the browser on that platform.
